Friends Against Scams is a National Trading Standards Scams Team initiative, which aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering communities to take a stand against scams.  The initiative has been created to tackle the lack of scams awareness by providing information about scams and those who fall victim to them. This information enables communities and organisations to understand scams, talk about scams and cascade messages throughout communities about scams prevention and protection.

Friends Against Scams encourages communities and organisations to take the knowledge learnt and turn it into action, and with this in mind, on Thursday 5th March 2020 at 10.30 am in Christ Church, we will be welcoming Natalie White, our local NatWest Community Banker. Following on from a highly successful presentation to Southport U3A, Natalie will speak on the subject of scams, and will explain how her role involves helping people in the community protect themselves against scams. She will talk about how scams can affect anyone, even the younger generation, the different types in existence and how we can protect ourselves against them, with 5 important top tips.
