Over 70 guests have expressed an interest in participating in this walking holiday.
A short meeting will be held on Monday 6 December (venue Scout Hut - small room) at 12.15pm to ensure that all prospective leaders - either walking or other social activities - can be nominated or volunteer to assist in the planning of this event
A WALKING SHORT BREAK

South Yorkshire Dales. Newfield Hall stands at the end of tree-lined drive in two acres of mature grounds and has spectacular views across the fells. Built in 1856 by William Alcock, the country house retains its 19th century ambience with its pillared entrance, baronialhall and courtyard.
Newfield Hall has 4 star Visit Britain rating and an indoor heated swimming pool.

MONDAY AFTERNOON SHORT WALKS

This group walks on the 4th Monday of the month starting at 1.30pm. Walks are local, leisurely and over easy terrain and around 4 or 5 miles. Please wear good footwear. .Just turn up at the starting place for any Monday walk. You do not need to contact the leader or coordinator of the Monday walks unless you want more details about the walk or the starting place
Monday May 24th: Freshfield. Leader: Eric Morris. Meet at 1.30 at Freshfield Railway Station for woodland, beach and dune walk. Parking at Freshfield Station is limited so share cars if possible. Even better, take the Green option and go by train. The 12.20 from Ormskirk changing to the Southport line at Sandhills will get you to Freshfield by 13.23. The walk goes via the National Trust Red Squirrel Reserve on to the beach (it is low tide), returning via Fisherman's path and the Dune Heath area. There is a little walking over soft sand but otherwise conditions underfoot are good.

Coming down the A570 (Rainford Bypass) from Ormskirk, take the first right after the Wheatsheaf Island (just before the overhead Iron railway bridge) The satnav ref is WA11 7SR. See map of walk
Monday July 26th: Clieves Hill. Leader: Willem Wiechers. Meet at St Anne's Parish Centre, St Anne's Road at 1.30 for a walk by Devill's wall and over Clieves Hill. See map of walk
Monday August 23rd: Ashurst Beacon. Leader: Margaret Wiechers. Meet at Prince William by Ashurst Beacon at 1.30 for a 4 mile walk through Beacon Park and around the Beacon

LONGER WALKS (Thursdays)
This group walks at a leisurely pace on not too difficult terrain with a pub lunch stop where possible. The distance is usually between 7 and 11 miles. Please wear good footwear and carry waterproofs for all walks Coordinator: Tom Hodson 421 676 .

This group meet at 1000 for 1015 start and aims to keep healthy by a 5-7 mile walk at an easy pace with a good social interaction over lunch at the end of the walk.
