U3A Cycle Group: The cycle group rides will take place on the 3rd Friday of each month from April to October at 10.00am with the provision that should the weather be bad we will try again the following Friday. The rides will initially be 10-12 miles long using mainly country lanes and off road tracks where possible and should take approximately 2 hours.

As the season progresses we may try to extend some of the rides if all the members are happy to do so.

Clothing should be appropriate and comfortable for the day. For your own safety, we do advise that you wear a high-visibility jacket or other light-coloured clothing, and that you use a cycle helmet, though this is not compulsory.

Any prospective cyclists should make sure that their bike is in proper working order.

For further information please contact the group co-ordinator, Roy Jenkinson on 01744 889033 or at roy_joan2000@yahoo.co.uk

Cycling 2010
Cycling Group First Ride of 2010

The U3A Leisure Cycling Group had their inaugural ride on Wednesday 29th April 2009. We met at Green's Lane canal bridge; off the Aughton to Formby Road at 1.00pm. Our first route used the canal towpath, the Cheshire Lines path, and quiet lanes. It was completely flat (apart from one bridge!) and the total distance was about 12 miles.
